Inside the Vivace Leadership Weekend

Every great organization has moments that define its culture. Moments when people stop thinking only about themselves and begin to understand the responsibility they have to the people around them. Moments where leadership becomes less about titles and more about impact. That is the purpose of the Vivace Leadership Weekend.

Hosted at West Chester University (July 18-19), the Vivace Leadership Weekend is designed to help students grow as leaders, teammates, communicators, and people. This is not a weekend built around lectures.

It is a highly interactive experience centered around relationships, reflection, ownership, communication, service, and authentic leadership.

Students leave with practical tools they can immediately bring back to their organizations — and, more importantly, a deeper understanding of themselves and the impact they have on others.

Leadership Is For Everyone

One of the foundational ideas of the Vivace Leadership Weekend is simple:

Leadership is not reserved for a select few students. It belongs to everyone.

Too often, students believe leadership only begins after earning a title. But some of the most influential people in any program may never hold formal positions. They are the students who:

      • consistently show up

      • support others

      • communicate positively

      • create belonging

      • model accountability

      • and elevate the people around them

Leadership is not a destination for a few; it is a journey available to all. Throughout the weekend, students explore how leadership exists in:

        • Drum Majors

        • Section Leaders

        • Captains

        • Student Leaders

      • Emerging Leaders

          • team dynamics

          • communication styles

          • trust-building

          • conflict navigation

          • leadership through service

          • emotional intelligence

        • and culture development

        Leadership Through Authenticity

Many students enter leadership roles believing they must imitate the leaders who came before them. But authentic leadership is not imitation. It is ownership.

At Vivace Leadership Weekend, students are challenged to discover their own strengths, voice, personality, and leadership style. We believe that you do not have to become the person who held the role before you, you only have to become the BEST version of yourself!

        Students explore how to:

            • communicate authentically

            • build confidence

            • empower others

            • lead through trust

            • and support their peers without pretending to be someone they are not

          More Than Motivation

The Vivace Leadership Weekend is energetic. It is emotional. It is engaging. But it is also deeply practical.

Students leave with actionable strategies they can implement immediately in their own organizations.

          Sessions focus on:

              • leadership systems

              • communication tools

              • team-building strategies

              • culture development

              • rehearsal ownership

              • student empowerment

              • and reflection practices

The goal is not simply to inspire students for one weekend. The goal is to help students create lasting impact long after the event ends.

            The Power Of Shared Experience

There is something powerful about being surrounded by students from different schools who share similar goals, fears, responsibilities, and passions. Students quickly realize:

                • they are not alone

                • leadership challenges are universal

                • and growth happens faster in community

The friendships, conversations, and shared experiences often become some of the most meaningful parts of the weekend.

                Building Culture Intentionally

Strong cultures do not happen accidentally, they are built intentionally through daily habits, expectations, language, traditions, and relationships. At the Vivace Leadership Weekend, students engage in experiences designed to help them better understand:

                  • team dynamics

                  • communication styles
